Sherry had knelt in front of Kelli and gripped her chin, so she had no other choice but to look at her. “Janet and I decided that since you couldn’t bring yourself to kill him that we were going to take care of him for you. He has pieces of us inside of him too. I think it’s about time we reclaimed what rightfully belongs to us. Don’t you?”

Kelli tried to stand but with her feet taped, it was impossible to move. “Don’t do this, girls. He’s not worth going to prison for.” She held out her taped hands. “Cut this off of me and I’ll do it. I should have taken care of him a long time ago. I don’t mind going to prison. It couldn’t be any worse than living with your father.”

Sherry shook her head and stood. “Janet and I decided that if we left you taped up through everything, then the police couldn’t pin this on you. Don’t worry about a thing. We have

everything figured out.”

Sherry touched Kelli’s cheek. “We’re here to take care of you for once, Mom. You have always taken such good care of us. You’re the only good thing we have ever had our entire lives.

This is our gift to you.”

Kelli used every argument she could for them to not to kill Mark, but it didn’t take very long for the night to turn into a complete bloodbath. Sadly though, no matter how many body parts her daughters sawed off and examined, they couldn’t find any of the pieces that had been stolen from them. When daylight came, the three of them were still just as broken apart and shattered as before.

It was Janet who finally decided that they needed to hit Kelli over the head again so she would be unconscious when the police finally did arrive to the house. Kelli had welcomed the pain and the darkness. It helped to shut out the sight of her daughters' blood-soaked clothes and their disappointed faces.

Kelli pushed that image out of her mind again by focusing solely on the blinds and dust particles. Fortunately, she was finally able to drift off to sleep again. Sometime in the middle of the night, a nurse came in and gave her more pain medication. That was enough to help her spend the rest of the night without memories forcing her to relive what had happened. Just as she was waking again the next morning, Sherry and Janet came into her room. Both of her daughters smiled as if nothing was wrong. Janet went around to one side of the hospital bed and Sherry went around to the other side. They both offered her their hands and she reached out and took them. They, in turn, reached across the bed and clasped hands until the three of them formed a circle of arms and hands.

Kelli smiled at each daughter. “We have always had each other. He could never take that away from us, could he?”

Sherry nodded. “The three of us make a whole.
